Start earning from your stuff
Everything you need to know about lending on Nearby, from creating your first listing to getting paid.
How lending works
Create your listing
Start by tapping "List an item". Add a clear title, detailed description, and at least 3 high-quality photos. Include the brand, model, condition, and anything the borrower should know. The better your listing, the faster it books.
Set your pricing
Set a daily rate that reflects your item's value and local demand. You can also switch on a weekly discount for bookings of seven days or more and choose how much it is. It's off unless you turn it on, and it applies to each full week; any extra days are charged at your daily price. You keep 85% of every booking. Check similar listings in your area to price competitively.
Every rental includes the Nearby Guarantee
Every booking includes the Nearby Guarantee at no cost to you or the borrower, with no tiers to choose. It is a discretionary goodwill payment, not insurance.
Manage bookings
When someone requests your item, you will receive a notification. Every borrower is ID-checked before their first booking. Review their profile and reviews, then accept or decline within 24 hours. Use in-app messaging to coordinate pickup times and locations.
Handover the item
Meet the borrower at a convenient, well-lit location. Walk them through how to use the item, point out anything fragile, and take a quick photo together as a record. A friendly handover sets the tone for a great rental.
Get paid
Your earnings reach your Stripe account when the borrower pays, and Stripe pays them to your bank on your payout schedule. You can track all your earnings in the Lender Dashboard.
Lend yours. Get paid.
You keep 85% of each rental, and every booking includes the Nearby Guarantee, up to €2,000.

Photography tips
Great photos are one of the biggest factors in getting your items booked. Clear, well-lit photos help borrowers know exactly what to expect.
- Use natural light and a clean background
- Show the item from multiple angles (front, back, details)
- Include accessories and everything that comes with the rental
- Photograph any existing wear or damage for transparency
- Show the item in use or in context when possible
- Use your phone's portrait mode for a professional look
Pricing strategy
- Research comparable listings in your area to set a competitive price
- Start slightly lower to get your first bookings and reviews
- Factor in wear and depreciation for high-use items
- A good rule of thumb is 1-3% of the item's retail value per day
- Adjust pricing seasonally (camping gear costs more in summer)
- A weekly discount for 7+ day bookings is optional: switch it on and choose how much it is
