How Nearby works

Renting in 5 steps

1. 01

   Find it nearby

   Search or browse categories. Every listing shows the daily price and its Dublin area.

2. 02

   Request your dates

   Pick your dates and send a request. The lender has 24 hours to accept or decline.

3. 03

   Pay securely

   Pay through Stripe once the lender accepts. A 15% service fee (minimum €2.50) applies, or 25% on some higher-value categories.

4. 04

   Collect the item

   Agree a handover time in your Nearby messages, then check the item over at pickup.

5. 05

   Return it and review

   Bring it back on the agreed date in the condition you got it, then leave a review.

Lending in 5 steps

1. 01

   List your item

   Add photos and your daily price. No listing fees and no monthly subscription.

2. 02

   Accept a booking

   Check the borrower's profile, then accept or decline within 24 hours.

3. 03

   Hand it over

   Meet somewhere handy and walk them through the item. Take a few photos at pickup.

4. 04

   Get paid

   You keep 85% of your price, or 100% during a fee waiver. Stripe pays it to your bank on your payout schedule.

5. 05

   Get it back

   Check it when it comes back. Report accidental damage or theft within 48 hours of the scheduled return under the Nearby Guarantee.

The Nearby Guarantee

• Included with every rental at no extra cost. There are no paid tiers and no add-on at checkout.
• If a rented item is accidentally damaged or stolen during the rental, Nearby may, at its discretion, make a goodwill payment to the lender of up to €2,000 per item.
• Members may send their own photos of the item's condition as evidence with a claim.
